Just for recording for future visitors: The problem (extremely serious) persists and third parties can share whatever they want with you even without your permission. And even if you manually remove each file from view, they still appear in the list.

Even if you report the file, Microsoft does nothing. Whoever is responsible for OneDrive security, user support policies, and the developers involved in platform updates should deeply reflect on their technical abilities and real interest in solving security problems.

It's ridiculous that this still persists...

I second. My shared files on OneDrive is infested with spam daily.

There is no " select all" button to get rid of it. The only option is one by one: select the spam file, hide the file and mark as spam. I probably will be hours and hours behind the desktop to get rid of it.

Please make a feature by "select all" to get rid of the spam.

Hi,

You’re seeing spam files because OneDrive shows anything shared with you even from unknown people. These files aren’t stored in your OneDrive, so you cannot delete them.

What I recommend is:

Go to OneDrive Web → Shared tab → Remove from Shared list to hide them.

Use Report abuse on each file and Block the sender to stop future shares.

Never open or download suspicious files.

Strengthen your account security (update password, enable MFA).

I agree MICROSOFT should do something about this. I have been getting notified of these spam / malicious files today for the first time. Looking in the shared folder on my onedrive, they have been doing it since 20 December 2025. This is a security issue and microsoft need to work on a patch to fix it. I don't want to see explicit or malicious files in my onedrive. I want to be able to delete them, not hide them.

Hello,

It appears scammers have found a product loophole to share files with users knowing the files would show up on their OneDrive.

As of now, there's no way to delete this. You will see this file in your ONedrive.com when you go online in the "Shared" section, but you can check the box, the right click and report it. You can also hide it.

The file technically doesn't live in your OneDrive, but lives in the sender's OneDrive. It doesn't take up your OneDrive storage. It is just listed for you to see, but like I said, hide it and report it. And also consider sending this as a feedback for the product team to make them aware. https://feedbackportal.microsoft.com/feedback

But I have 242 spam pdf files in my shared folder, and the only way to remove them is one by one

So I started removing one by one anc received "Couldn't remove item from shared list The provided item ID is not valid for the requested drive
