A factory reset wipes down everything and doesn't keep files.

If that's what you want, a factory reset, you should back up your files. Then go to Settings > System > Recovery > Reset this PC, and choose the option that deletes everything.

If you need to keep files, it is not a factory reset, but a system refresh. Same steps above, but when prompted, choose keeping files.

To reset your computer to factory settings while keeping your files, you can use the Keep my files option in Windows 11. Here’s how you can do it:

    1. Open Settings: Click on the Start menu and select Settings.
    2. Go to Recovery: Navigate to Update & Security > Recovery.
    3. Reset this PC: Under the Reset this PC section, click on Get started.
    4. Choose Keep my files: Select the Keep my files option. This will reinstall Windows while preserving your personal files, user accounts, and important settings. However, it will remove all installed applications and restore preinstalled customizations to their factory state.

This process helps fix software problems without losing your personal data.
