Dear Simon Blair
Thanks for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A Forum!
I understand you're having trouble with your laptop's built-in camera not being detected. The incident where an inbuilt camera is not being found or detected by the system is typically not a failure of the Windows operating system itself, but a disruption in the communication pathway between the hardware and the software.
To tailor this perfectly, could you share:
- Does the HP E27M monitor camera work for general tasks (e.g., in a Teams meeting or the Windows Camera app) even if it fails in the Windows Hello setup?
- Any error codes when opening the Camera app (like 0xA00F4244)?
- Does it work in other apps like Teams or Zoom?
In the meantime, you can try my suggestions for Windows 11 and let me know anything news from it:
- Search [Power Options] > [Change plan settings] > [Change advanced power settings] > [USB settings] > [USB selective suspend] > Set to [Disabled] (plugged in & battery).
- Search for [Get Help] in the [Start] menu > Search [Camera] > [Run the troubleshooter].
- [Settings] > [Privacy & security] > [Camera] > Turn on [Camera access] and [Let apps access your camera]
- Right-click [Start] > [Device Manager] > Expand "Cameras" (or "Imaging devices" if not listed) > Right-click your camera > [Update driver] > [Search automatically].
- Download latest HP Thunderbolt Dock G2 firmware and HP EliteDisplay E27m G2 drivers/firmware from hp.com/support.
