How do I totally remove all Office programs and licenses on my PC?

I have tried the ms uninstall-office-from-a-pc link and Troubleshooter.

But new installation only loads old Office 2019 version, every time.

    Hi Mark,

Office leaves behind residual files and registry entries even after using the uninstall tool. These remnants include activation data and configuration files, which cause the installer to detect an old version and reinstall it.

The Troubleshooter removes most components but doesn’t always clear hidden folders or registry keys tied to licensing.

    What You Can Do is:

Run the Official Removal Tool Again

Use Microsoft Support and Recovery Assistant to remove Office completely.

    Manually Delete Leftover Files

    Remove these folders:

    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office

    %ProgramData%\Microsoft\Office

    %LocalAppData%\Microsoft\Office

    Restart your PC.

    Clear Registry Entries

Open Registry Editor (regedit) and delete:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office

Back up your registry before making changes.

    Reinstall the Correct Version

Download the latest installer from account.microsoft.com/services using your Microsoft account.

Avoid using old setup files they may default to Office 2019.

Let me know how it goes, Happy to help!

To completely remove all Microsoft Office installations and licenses from your PC, you can follow these steps:

    1. Uninstall Office via Settings: Go to Settings > Apps > Apps & features. Find Microsoft Office in the list, select it, and click Uninstall.
    2. Use the Microsoft Support and Recovery Assistant: If the standard uninstall method does not work, you can use the Microsoft Support and Recovery Assistant tool to help remove Office. You can download it from the Microsoft website and follow the prompts to uninstall Office completely.
    3. Remove Remaining Office Files: After uninstalling, check for any remaining Office files in the following locations and delete them:
      • C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office
      • C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office
      • C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Office
      • C:\Users\<YourUsername>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Office
      • C:\Users\<YourUsername>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Office
    4. Delete Office Licenses from the Registry: If you are comfortable editing the registry, you can remove Office licenses from the registry. Be cautious, as incorrect changes can affect your system. Backup the registry first. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office and delete any Office-related keys.
    5. Restart Your Computer: After completing the above steps, restart your computer to ensure all changes take effect.
    6. Install the New Version of Office: Now, you should be able to install the new version of Office without it reverting to the old version.

If you continue to experience issues, ensure that there are no remnants of older versions by checking for any additional Office products that may have been installed alongside the main Office suite.
