Hello ,

recently i purchased a microsoft 365 business basic plan , and installed MFA for security purpose .

due my personal reasons i had to reset my mobile and when i am trying to login in to the MFA it asks me to verify the code shown on the screen , where i am unable to login to the MFA itself.to login into the mfa itself its asking for the authentication which i cannot perform . i need support in resetting the security info and resigning into the MFA so that i can login back with authentication code .

    Hi,

    Some methods here.

    https://yourwindowsguide.com/2026/09/how-to-reset-microsoft-mfa.html

Create a Temporary Tenant to Open a Support Ticket

If you get stuck in the automated IVR loop or cannot reach a live agent via telephone, offer this practical fallback method:

    • Step 1: Sign up for a temporary Microsoft 365 Business trial account to generate a fresh tenant.
    • Step 2: Log in to the Microsoft 365 Admin Center of the temporary tenant.
    • Step 3: Go to Support > New Service Request and request an escalation to the Data Protection / Tenant Recovery team on behalf of your locked original tenant.
    • Step 4: Clearly outline the locked tenant’s domain, UPN, and case history in the ticket description.
    • Step 5: Cancel the subscription immediately to avoid charges.

    Hi @SAI K,

Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A forum.

Thank you for contacting us. Please allow me to provide you with the following information:

This issue often occurs when your Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) configuration needs to be reset, especially after changing devices or reinstalling the Microsoft Authenticator app. Since your new device has not been configured with Authenticator, you are currently unable to access your account. The app is still linked to your previous device, which is why you are not receiving the verification codes.

In this case, please contact the Data Protection team for assistance in restoring MFA for your account.

To contact Data Protection, please follow these steps:

    1. Use the following link to make a call: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/customer-service-phone-numbers-c0389ade-5640-e588-8b0e-28de8afeb3f2#ID0EBBD=signinorgid
    2. Instructions when calling:
      • Reason for the call: AdminCenter
      • Role: Global Administrator
      • Request description: Mention the keyword "AdminCenter"
      • If asked whether there is another administrator: Answer "No" to be transferred to the support team and have a service request created.

Note: Thank you for understanding the scope of support provided through this forum. As coordinators, we only provide general guidance and assist with common troubleshooting steps. We do not have access to internal systems or administrative tools to resolve issues related to accounts or backend systems, but we will continue to support you within our responsibilities.

If you have any updates regarding this issue or other questions, please feel free to share them with me. I am always ready to assist.

To reset your Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for your Microsoft 365 business account, you will need to contact Product Support. Since you are unable to access your MFA app due to the reset of your mobile device, you will need assistance to reset your MFA settings. Here are the steps you can follow:

    1. Contact Product Support: Reach out to Microsoft Product Support and provide them with the email address associated with your business account.
    2. Request MFA Reset: Inform them that you need to reset your MFA due to the loss of access to your authentication method.
    3. Follow Their Instructions: They may guide you through the process of resetting your MFA so that you can set it up again with your new mobile device.

Make sure to have any relevant account information ready when you contact support to expedite the process.
