Hello,

It's come to my attention that CTRL+ENTER auto-sends whatever email you're currently working on

How can this shortcut be disabled?

Those are dangerously common keys to prompt such an output

Thank you

    Hi @CM,

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum.

Thank you for reaching out and sharing your experience with us.

I understand how inconvenient it is to automatically send an email when you are still drafting it. By default, New Outlook uses Outlook for Windows keyboard shortcuts, which includes sending email when pressing Ctrl and Enter.

To turn off keyboard shortcuts, please try the following steps:

    • In New Outlook, go to Settings > General > Accessibility.

    User's image

    • Select Turn off keyboard shortcuts, then click Save.

However, if you choose to turn off keyboard shortcuts, this will prevent you from using some Outlook specific shortcuts.

To work around this, I would recommend switching back to classic Outlook and try these steps:

    1. Go to File > Options > Mail

    User's image

    1. Scroll to Send messages > uncheck Ctrl + enter sends a message.

We understand how important this functionality is for your workflow. I recommend submitting feedback directly to Microsoft via the Feedback Portal to help prioritize this feature in future updates.

To disable the CTRL + ENTER shortcut that auto-sends emails in Outlook, you can adjust the settings in Outlook's options. Here’s how you can do it:

    1. Open Outlook and go to File > Options.
    2. In the Mail category, look for the section labeled Send messages.
    3. Uncheck the option that says Send messages immediately when connected. This setting can sometimes influence the behavior of the CTRL + ENTER shortcut.
    4. Additionally, you can consider using the Alt + S shortcut for sending emails, which is less likely to be accidentally triggered.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, you may need to check for any add-ins or custom shortcuts that could be affecting the default behavior of Outlook.
