Hello, thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A.

If you've the product key and redeemed it successfully, you can go to the Services & Subscription page in your Microsoft account to install Office Home 2024.

https://account.microsoft.com/services

(or) Click the link below to download the retail ISO image for the Office Home 2024 edition from the official Microsoft CDN server.

To redeem a product key, go to https://setup.office.com , sign in with a Microsoft account and enter the key. This creates an association between the account and the key, and you complete the installation and activation from the account.

The steps are discussed in the support article at https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/where-to-enter-your-office-product-key-0a82e5ae-739e-4b92-a6f4-2ec780c185db .

Thank you for this.

after entering my product key I get the following error from http://offline.officeapps.live.com/outage.html

"Service Unavailable

We are currently experiencing technical difficulties.

Please try again later."

This could be temporary but unusual for microsoft... any feedback on this? Thanks a lot

@bspdlp,

Which specific type of Office subscription is this? What is the product name? For personal use, you would want either Office Home 2024 (does not include classic Outlook) or Office Home & Business 2024 (does include classic Outlook and is licensed for commercial use as well).

The error message you cited is common when a scammer has sold you a version which isn't for consumer (home) use. For example, if you have received Office Professional 2024 or Office Professional Plus 2024, these are volume licenses which can be used by large organizations, such as businesses. If this is what has happened, contact the seller and ask for your money back.

@William Brown, since this thread is old (from November 2025), you should start your own. Use the Ask a question button at the top of the Q&A page. Be sure to include relevant information (version of Office, version of macOS etc.). Good luck. (The current thread will be closed.)
