How do you update a bookings app service from 1:N to 1:1 when you cannot reduce participants to 1?

I created a bookings site for my creative team and only 2 of the 11 services are allowing me to provide a 1:1 service. This means as long as a customer selects the same service time slots that another customer selected already will show up as available because multiple seats are showing per service. This is incorrect and each service should only have one seat.

Hi @DFisher,

Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum. I truly appreciate the clarity of your explanation, and I understand how frustrating this limitation can be, especially when you're trying to ensure a smooth and accurate booking experience for your creative team.

Based on my research and experience with Microsoft Bookings: In Microsoft Bookings, once a service is created with Maximum Attendees > 1, it is treated as a group service. Unfortunately, the system does not allow you to later reduce the number of attendees to 1 to convert it into a 1:1 service. This is by design and currently cannot be changed after the service is created.

The most practical workaround at this time is to delete the affected services and recreate them with Maximum Attendees = 1 from the beginning. I understand this may be inconvenient, especially if the services are already in use, but this is the approach that will function correctly given how the system currently operates.

I completely empathize with your situation and agree that Microsoft Bookings would be more flexible and user-friendly if it allowed switching between group and individual services after creation. This would help teams like yours adapt services without needing to start over. However, as a forum moderator, I don’t have the ability to escalate or modify product behavior directly. I strongly encourage you to submit your feedback via the Bookings · Community

Had exact same issue and found a quick work around.

Step 1: Add a character to your service title e.g. add a "x" after it.
Step 2: Copy the service, change the attendees back to 1 for this new copied service and delete the "x".
Step 3: Delete the old service.
