My bill was $99.99/year and the next bill is slated for $129.99. WHY?

I never asked for Copilot to be added to all my office features. It just happened.

And the email about the price increase does not mention anything about "downgrading your subscription to Microsoft 365 Classic subscription,"

Looks like Microsoft is ripping off customers for an unsolicited change.

Absolutely disgusted. 30% increase for a function I never asked for, or use.

Absolute robbery, bad business, and in bad faith. No need to sneakily trick your users into a 30% increase for a feature they don't want. Should be Opt-in, not Opt.out!!! If you have so trick people in to using crappy coPilot, maybe your development team should re-think it's usefullness which, which from my experience, is zero! Wish you would include clear instructions how to disable every aspect of coPilot. Really disappointed and disgusted with this sort of behavior from Microsoft. Would expect it from Crapple but expect more from Microsoft.

I agree. I didn't ask for Copilot. It's like your mechanic opting for new tires when you went in for an oil change.

This is ridiculous, and an obvious money grab, notifying us with an email that has no explanation of why the increase was occurring and so close to our renewal dates.

To switch to the classic plan without the price increase for the AI Co-Pilot features:

    -Login to your MS account.

    -Click manage subscriptions

-Then hit cancel (as if you are going to cancel your subscription) and it will bring you to a screen with an option for the MS 365 Classic version and show you info about switching to the classic plan without the AI.

    -Click - switch plan.

You now have the same pricing as last year. (Or monthly). Wahoo!

-Go back to enjoying your day!

    Hi KimberlyJKG,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

The reason for the subscription price increase is that the product team has added Copilot to all Office applications starting from January 16, 2025. As a cost for unlimited use of AI, Microsoft has raised the subscription price.

However, if you do not need this AI feature, you can downgrade your subscription to Microsoft 365 Classic subscription, which will reduce the subscription price by $30. Correspondingly, your monthly quota for using Copilot to assist in creating documents will be limited. For more information please refer to: Switching to Microsoft 365 Personal and Family Classic Plans - Microsoft Support

Although this is not my decision, I understand the urgency due to this sudden change. If you confirm that you need to switch to the Classic subscription, please click the following link and leave your phone number on the left side of the screen: https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=2168171. A support agent will call you back as scheduled, and you will need to provide the necessary information during the call so that the agent can assist you in switching to the Classic subscription in the backend.

I hope my explanation helps you understand the reason for your subscription price increase. If you have any other questions or want to share more context, please let me know in your reply!

    Best Regards,

Thomas C - MSFT | Microsoft Community Support Specialist
