Why aren't the labels in Planner updating when I try to rename them?

I have followed the instructions to click the pencil icon next to the label in Planner and typed what I would like them to be called instead. When I press enter, however, the label name goes back to the default (i.e. "Pink"). Why is that? What else can I try?

    That solved my problem!

I had been pressing "enter" after typing in my desired label. Clicking outside of the label after renaming worked. Thank you!

Why is this program so hard to use? Who would ever think to click on the screen rather than pressing enter?

    Dear Tucker Duval,

    Good day!!

Apologies for the inconvenience caused and please don’t worry, let’s work together on your concern and move towards a resolution path.

I understand your concern and I would like to convey that if you change the existing label name in the Plan, the changes will be stick only to plan where you have made the changes and the change in the names will not be applicable to the labels in the new Plan of the Microsoft Planner.

For example: If I change the name of the labels in the Plan A, the changed labels will not show up in the different plans such as Plan B etc.

So, I have tested the behavior with specific Plan by changing the label names, where the changed labels are not reverted back to their default names, and I followed the steps below:

Open the Plan> Open the Task> Click on Add Label> Click on the Pencil icon beside the label name which you want to change> Make change and click out the label to save it> Refreshed the page> Where the labels which are changed are not reverted.

If the above steps are reverting back to their default name, can you please open the Microsoft Planner in a InPrivate or Incognito browser and check the outcome by changing the label names?

Moreover, can you please check whether the problem happens with a specific Plan or all Plans in Planner?

Thanks for your patience and understanding. Have a good day!!

    Best Regards,

    Sophia

I had the same problem, today.

    Alternate Solution:

Apply the label to the ticket, keeping the name as-is. Now change the label's name from the ticket... pushing "enter" works as expected.
