Problem with android version of MS Word when used with mouse

Hi, i have noticed that in the word app, i cant select texts by holding down my left mouse button and dragging (The usual way to do it in the PC Word). It happens when i use my mouse. I have tried using several mouse and using the tablet's touchpad. But i still cant select text. The only way to select text is by finger touch (if i long touch a text, a button appears and i can drag that button to select more) or by double clicking the mouse button and it will select just one word. Clicking it again will just select the entire pararaph so i cant really select which section i want to edit. The funny thing is that it only happens to the MS Word app. Not for powerpoint and excel. In pwoerpoint and excel, i can just select text normally like what i would do on my PC. So i's quite sure the problem rises from the word app itself and can be easily fixed with an update. Also, if i selected a few paragraphs with a mouse and wanted to see my word count, i cant find it. But if i do the same with finger touch, the word count is displayed beside the page 2 out of 4 while when i use the mouse only the page 2 of 4 appears without any word count. I believe this is an issue with the app (especially MS Word) since the app treats mouse and finger touch differently (in an unfair way). Moreover, i also have some issue with text styling. In the PC version, i am able to change the text styles in the styles gallery and check the box saying apply this styles to all documents with this template. From that on, every blank document i created in the PC app will follow the styling i have set previously. But the same does not apply to the android version. I cant set a particular font style as a default. When i select a style and modify it to what i use, and i refer back to it again, it will just return back to calibri. I have tried setting it up from the PC for the "Blank document" format. When i open a new blank document from my PC, it shows up with the styles that i have created. But when i create a new blank document in android, it just shows the default arial style so i have no way of setting the default style to the style i use everytime. This creates a lot of hassle for me personally and i would like to see Microsoft fixing this issue so i can use the application a lot more.

    Hi ReynaldoB

Thank you for your reply. Regarding to my office app on android, the version is Version 1 .0.1 (16.0.14430.20026). As far as im aware that is the latest version of the MS Word app. For your information, i was in the beta programe for all MS Office apps. I tried leaving the beta and the issue still persists (i have uninstalled office beta and reinstalled the public version of office. I always keep my play store on auto update so i am very sure that this is the latest and i have checked it on my play store and currently there is no new update for the app. I also tried killing the app, resetting office, reinstalling office, clearing data and cache, restarting the device, and even factory resetting it. But the issue seems to be persistent.

I would now like to refer to the 3rd question, i have no problems at all in the PC Word. I am writing it there just as a reference (e.g. what i can do on the pc app that i cant do on the android version such as selecting texts, displaying word count, etc). Its so badd though the default text feature is not available at the moment since i work on few different format. For job related stuff im fine with the current setting. But as far as acedemic work goes, it is compulsory to use times new roman 12pt double spaced with proper heading and sub headings so it is really killing me since i need to change the font size manually everytime i want to add a new headings and sub headings. Hope this feature gets available soon in the android app.

Anyway, thanks for your reply. Looking forward to your response very soon and hope the update is coming soon as well.
