I have changed my Microsoft account to a passwordless account.

Why does it still need me to enter a pin when I sign into my Windows PC or is my Windows account different to my Microsoft account?

As a comment. A PIN is a local method for sign-in and means your account does not have an online method to sign-in. I assume you are using the Authenticator app (on your phone, or a second email address) to verify it is you if you need to sign-in to your account.

When you use your PIN on your computer the computer is registered and known by the system so allows sign-in. If another user tried to use their computer to sign-in it would be challenged and if they cannot provide the correct details then access is denied.

Hello! My name is Renzo and welcome to Microsoft Community.

I'll be happy to help you out with your query.

To remove a PIN from a Microsoft account login on Windows, you can go to Sign-in options and turn off the Mandatory PIN code request. You can also remove a PIN by following these steps:

  1. Click Start
  2. Click Settings
  3. Click Accounts
  4. Click Sign-in options
  5. Turn off the blue slider for "Mandatory PIN code request" or the "For improved security, only allow Windows Hello sign-in for Microsoft Accounts on this device"

Also, if you are using Microsoft Account, Passwordless means you will need to sign in via Windows Hello (PIN, Face scan, Fingerprint, etc.) You may check this link as your reference. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/account-bil...

I hope the above steps helped you. In case of additional questions, reach out back to me, and I will be happy to help and try my best to resolve your issue. Thank you.
