    Hi Vicki,

If you want to change or replace your current payment details with a new credit card, you'll need to add the new card as a payment method rather than edit the existing card information.

Before proceeding, ensure you have the required billing permissions:

    • If your organization uses a Microsoft Customer Agreement (MCA) billing account, you must be a Billing Account Owner, Billing Account Contributor, Billing Profile Owner, or Billing Profile Contributor.
    • If your organization uses a Microsoft Online Subscription Agreement (MOSA) billing account, you must have at least the Billing Administrator role.

Once you have the necessary permissions, you can follow the steps below to add the new payment method.

    1. Sign in to the Microsoft 365 Admin Center with a Global or Billing Admin account..
    2. Go to Billing > Payment methods.
    3. Select Add payment method or choose an existing card and select Edit.
    4. Enter the new card details and save the changes.

If you want to update the name, billing address,... for the current payment method, please go to the admin center.

    1. Select the More actions button (three dots) for the payment method you want to update, then select Edit.
    2. In the Edit payment method pane, update your payment method information, including the name on the credit or debit card, billing address, or expiration date.
    3. Select Save.

If you update a credit or debit card, you must enter the security code before any changes are saved.

For a Microsoft 365 business account, payment methods are managed in the Microsoft 365 admin center.

    • To add a new payment method:
      1. Go to the Microsoft 365 admin center.
      2. If using Simplified view, select Products > View payment methods.
      3. If using Dashboard view, go to Bills & payments > Payment methods.
      4. Select Add a payment method.
      5. Enter the new payment details and select Save.
    • To edit an existing card:
      1. Open Payment methods in the admin center.
      2. Select the More actions button (...) next to the payment method.
      3. Select Edit.
      4. Update the name, billing address, or expiration date, then select Save.
      5. For credit or debit cards, the security code must be entered before changes are saved.
    • To change to a different card number:
      • The card number on an existing payment method cannot be changed.
      • Add a new payment method, then use Replace on the old payment method to move subscriptions or the billing profile to the new one.
    • To replace the payment method used by subscriptions or billing:
      1. In Payment methods, select More actions (...) for the current payment method.
      2. Select Replace.
      3. Choose either an existing payment method or add a new one.
      4. Review the details and complete Replace payment method.

    Important:

    • Adding a payment method does not automatically assign it to subscriptions or billing profiles.
    • If a card is declined, verify the card number, expiration date, name, billing address, and available funds. If the issue continues, contact the bank.
    • The payment method must be issued from the same country or region as the tenant.
