Microsoft 365 features that help users manage their subscriptions, account settings, and billing information.
If access to the Microsoft account is available, sign in and cancel the subscription from Services & subscriptions:
- Go to Subscriptions.
- Sign in with the Microsoft account that purchased the subscription.
- Select Manage for the subscription.
- Select Cancel or Upgrade or Cancel, then follow the prompts.
If access to the account is not available, Microsoft generally cannot provide account information to non-account holders for privacy and legal reasons. In that case:
- If the account credentials are known, the account can be closed directly.
- If the credentials are not known, ensure any Microsoft subscriptions are stopped by closing the customer’s bank account or credit card, revoking authorizations, or informing the bank.
- If the subscription was purchased through a third party, such as a retailer, Google Play, or the Apple App Store, cancellation must be handled with that provider.
If the subscription is Microsoft 365, cancelling it reduces storage to 5 GB of cloud storage and 15 GB of Outlook.com storage. For Microsoft 365 Family or Microsoft 365 Premium, people sharing the subscription also have their storage reduced.
