    Hello Dinesh Gupta,

Since the laptop was formatted after the disk failure, Office will need to be downloaded and activated again.

If the product key was previously redeemed, it is normally linked to the Microsoft account used during the original setup. Please sign in to the Microsoft account Services & subscriptions page using that account. If Office 2016 appears there, select Install. You should not need to enter the product key again.

Because the buyer’s email address is no longer functional, please first try recovering access to the associated Microsoft account:

    Microsoft account recovery guidance

If the license is not listed, please clarify how Office Professional 2016 was obtained:

    • Purchased separately from Microsoft or a retailer
    • Preinstalled by Dell
    • Purchased through an employer’s Workplace Discount Program
    • Supplied through an organization’s volume-licensing agreement

Please also note that support and security updates for Office 2016 ended on October 14, 2025, so upgrading to a supported Office version is recommended.

Feel free reply back to this post if you need further assistance, I'll be happy to help.
