I am trying to force OneNote on my MacBookAir to sync a notebook created on my Android phone app. I can see the notebook in OneNote in the browser, but there is NO functionality to force-sync a notebook (vs. a page) on the laptop. All the information I find online is old - there are no such functions or menu options as those described.

Hello Phila Hoopes, thanks for reaching out.

If the notebook is not listed on your Mac at all, the Sync Status steps won’t help yet.

In OneNote for Mac, open Show Notebook List, then select More Notebooks. If you see the notebook there, select it to open it. You can also open the notebook in OneNote for the web and try Open in OneNote from the top menu.

If neither option opens it on your Mac, is OneNote for Mac signed in with the same Microsoft account you’re using in the browser? Please let us know whether the notebook appears under More Notebooks, and what happens when you try Open in OneNote.

The notebook is not appearing on my Mac. Not appearing at all. It cannot be selected for synching because it is not there. It appears only on my phone and on the browser.

On OneNote for Mac, manual notebook sync is available from Sync Status.

    1. Open OneNote for Mac.
    2. Select Notebooks > Sync Status.
    3. Find the notebook that was created on the Android phone.
    4. Select Sync Now next to that notebook.

If the notebook appears in OneNote for the web but not correctly on the Mac, use this check:

    1. Open the notebook in OneNote for the web and confirm the latest changes are visible there.
    2. In OneNote for Mac, close and reopen the notebook to refresh the local cache.
    3. If sync still does not complete, make sure OneNote is updated to the latest version.

For mobile-created notebooks and general sync issues, these additional checks are supported:

    • Verify network connectivity.
    • Sign out and sign back in to reset credentials.
    • If the notebook cannot be opened in OneNote for the web, the issue is likely server-side; for SharePoint-stored notebooks, contact the administrator.
