how to remove a school c2k account from my applications and create a new personal one

I worked in a school for the past number of years, i had a school account set up on my personal laptop. I need to remove the school credentials and take out a new subscription

    Hello bryan young,

    To remove the school account from the Microsoft 365 applications, open Word or Excel and go to File > Account > Sign out. Please also sign out of the school account in Outlook, Teams, and OneDrive.

    For OneDrive, make sure any required synchronization has completed before unlinking the account: Unlink and re-link OneDrive | Microsoft Support

    To remove the school account from Windows, go to: Settings > Accounts > Access work or school. Select the school account, and then choose "Disconnect".

    Before proceeding, please make sure that you have another local or personal administrator account that you can use to sign in to Windows. If Windows asks you to provide another administrator account, or warns that you might no longer be able to sign in after disconnecting, please do not continue until you have confirmed that the alternative administrator account works.

    This warning may indicate that the laptop is still joined or registered with the school’s Microsoft Entra environment. Adding a work or school account to Windows can register the device with the organization and may allow organizational management policies to apply: Add Your Work or School Account to a Windows Device | Microsoft Support

    If you cannot safely disconnect the account, you can contact the former school’s IT administrator and ask for help removing the laptop from the school’s Microsoft Entra or device management records.

    Once the school account has been safely removed, you can purchase Microsoft 365 Personal with your personal Microsoft account and use that account to sign in to and activate the Office applications.
