Processes in Microsoft 365 for setting up Office apps, redeeming product keys, and activating licenses.
Previewing and testing a Copilot Studio agent can consume Copilot Credits. If credits aren’t available in the environment, the preview can prompt for credits.
Next steps:
- Check whether the environment has Copilot Credits assigned.
- In the Power Platform admin center, go to Licensing > Products > Copilot Studio.
- Open the Environments tab and select the environment.
- Review whether the environment has prepaid capacity, pay-as-you-go usage, or is in overage.
- If no credits are assigned, contact the Copilot Studio or Power Platform administrator.
- Administrators allocate and manage Copilot Credits for environments.
- If credits need to be assigned to the environment, the administrator must do that in the Power Platform admin center.
- Choose a billing option if credits haven’t been set up yet.
- Pay-as-you-go: Link the environment to an Azure subscription through a billing policy in the Power Platform admin center. Usage is then billed based on actual consumption.
- Prepurchase plan: Purchase a one-year prepaid pool of Copilot Credit Commit Units (CCCUs) and associate it through a billing policy.
- If usage needs to be controlled after credits are added, configure guardrails.
- Admins can set usage limits.
- Admins can enable notifications when usage approaches the limit.
- Admins can enable a hard stop so the agent turns off when it reaches the defined limit.
- If AI tools or agent flows are used in the agent, expect those to consume Copilot Credits as well.
- In Copilot Studio, AI tools and AI Builder capabilities consume Copilot Credits.
A Copilot credit represents one interaction with a Copilot agent. If the environment has no available capacity, adding credits or enabling pay-as-you-go is the fix.
