A free app and service that helps families create healthy digital habits and stay connected. It’s designed to support both online safety and real-world awareness by offering tools for screen time management, content filtering, and location sharing
This usually happens because the invitation is no longer valid or the family-group state is blocking the join.
Try these steps:
- Ask the subscription owner to send a new sharing invitation.
- Family sharing only works after the invited person joins the owner’s Microsoft family group.
- Check whether the Microsoft account is already in another family group.
- If already in another family group, it must leave that group before joining the new one.
- This is a common cause of the “It looks like you're already in a family group” problem and can also prevent sharing from completing.
- Open the new invitation in a different browser or an incognito/private browsing window.
- If the invitation was received by email, sign in there and try the join link again.
- If the resent link still fails, ask the owner to resend it using a different delivery method such as SMS or a social media app.
- After joining successfully, confirm the shared subscription appears under the Microsoft account on the Services & subscriptions page.
- Since the current Personal subscription remains active until October 17, 2026, there is no need to cancel immediately just to accept the family invitation. Turning off recurring billing avoids double billing later.
If the account is already shown as part of the brother’s family group but the subscription benefit still does not appear, the owner may need to remove the share and then share it again.
