Using New Outlook on Windows for professional communication and productivity
Hi @Wes Marine
Thank you for describing the behavior so clearly. Based on your reproduction steps, the messages do not appear to be deleted. Instead, the message list in the shared mailbox is not refreshing correctly after an email changes from unread to read, because the messages reappear as soon as you leave the folder and return to the Inbox.
Could you please try the following?
-When an email disappears, select View > Sync and check whether it immediately reappears.
-Check whether the Inbox currently has an Unread filter or another filter enabled. Microsoft documents that read/unread filters can make messages disappear from an Outlook folder without deleting them.
-In new Outlook, open Settings > Accounts > Shared with me, expand the shared mailbox, and check whether you have the option to Convert or add it as an account. Microsoft states that this requires Full Access permission and that the option might not yet be available in every version of new Outlook.

-Update new Outlook to the latest available version and restart it before testing again.
-If possible, test the same shared mailbox with another user in new Outlook to determine whether the behavior follows the shared mailbox or only affects particular users.
Since the issue does not occur in Outlook on the web, the mailbox items still exist on the server. This points more toward a synchronization or message-list refresh issue in new Outlook than messages actually being removed.
I could not find a Microsoft article documenting this exact behavior, where each message disappears immediately after being marked as read.
I’m just another user on this forum, not a Microsoft employee, so please keep me updated.
