When I create a message to send, the message is going into my draft folder. (The send Button is grayed out so I cannot send it.)

    Dear @Denise Maio

Thank you for reaching out. I understand how frustrating it can be when your emails are automatically saved to Drafts and the Send button is grayed out.

Outlook normally saves unfinished messages to the Drafts folder automatically. However, the disabled Send button suggests that something may be preventing Outlook from sending the message.

I recommend trying the following steps:

    1. Check the recipient: Create a new email, manually enter a valid email address in the To field, add a subject and a short message, and check whether the Send button becomes available.

Verify your sending account: If you have multiple email accounts in Outlook, check the From field and make sure the correct account is selected.

    1. Check your connection, log out and log back in, and restart your computer.
    2. Test Outlook on the web: Sign in at https://outlook.office.com (work/school account) and try sending a test email. This will help determine whether the issue is specific to the Outlook application.

To help me narrow down the issue, could you please confirm:

Does the Send button remain grayed out even after entering a valid recipient?

Did this issue start recently, or has it happened since you first configured Outlook?

If possible, please also share a screenshot showing the disabled Send button, with any personal information hidden.

Once I have these details, I can guide you through the most appropriate solution.

    Try these checks in order:

    1. Add at least one recipient in To, Cc, or Bcc. A missing recipient can leave Send unavailable.
    2. Open the message in its own window instead of the reading pane. In Outlook on the web, drafts can be opened in a separate window by selecting Open in a separate window.
    3. Verify the mail account is configured in Outlook:
      • Go to File > Info > Account Settings > Account Settings.
      • On the E-mail tab, confirm the account is listed.
      • If it is missing, select New and add the account.
    4. If the account is listed but Send is still missing or unavailable, remove and add the account again:
      • File > Info > Account Settings > Account Settings
      • On the E-mail tab, select the account and choose Remove.
      • Add it again.
    5. If the message is stuck in Drafts or Outbox, check for a large attachment. Large attachments are a common cause.
      • For Outlook.com, attachments larger than 25 MB must be removed, replaced with a smaller file, or uploaded to OneDrive and sent as a link.
      • If the draft is in Drafts, open it there and remove attachments, then try sending again.
    6. Check mailbox storage. If Microsoft cloud storage is full, sending and receiving mail can stop.
    7. If using Outlook for Mac, a greyed-out Send button was fixed in build 16.37.20051002.

If the message remains in Drafts, Outlook Web App keeps unsent messages there until they are sent or deleted.
