I purchased on online download of Microsoft Office 2024 Professional recently and I have a product key.
However it does not appear in my Microsoft account and I wish to re-install it. What should I do?

I assume it was a bit bogus. They took my money sent me a download link together with a key! What can you say?
Was the price very cheap? Like I said, that's always the biggest red flag to begin with.
If the product is yours legitimately, you shoudn't need to rely on a download link provided by a third party, that means they gave links meant for internal organization users for THEIR organization, to external users.
Unfortunately, all you can do is contact the third-party seller and request your money back, or maybe they can give you a replacement product such as Office Home & Business 2024.
You haven't done anything wrong here. It is on the seller, but you are the one who is stuck with a product that you can't use.

Brian, I am sorry if this information upsets you. There's no way anyone can resolve this issue since the license you purchased is not meant for general consumer users.
Ok I understand what you are saying but how was I to know that it was only for commercial use. They were quite happy to take my money.
When you say "they," I assume you are referring to a third-party seller, not Microsoft, correct, because Microsoft doesn't sell this type of license to general consumers for a reason.
If that's the case, Microsoft didn't sell you this product. The problem is with unethical third-party sellers, and Microsoft cannot be held responsible for their actions.
Can you still dispute the purchase with the seller or your payment provider and get your money back?

Yes it was at a low price but in the past I have deliberately bought older versions cheaply as they are good enough for me. The last I bought was about 5 years ago when I got m/s office professional 2016. This was good and it is registered on my Microsoft account and I can still download it.
Brian, make no mistake, these licenses are real Microsoft licenses. I am not saying you bought a fake license.
You bought a license via a channel that's prohibited by Microsoft, as a general consumer.
Let's say I signed a contract with Microsoft to open a volume license account for a business I own. In the contract, it clearly says these are licenses for my internal users only.
Let's say I then sell you one of them at 1/10 of the retail price off the table. And if I am a good admin for my business, I make sure all licenses are renewed correctly, and I don't let my organization go over installation limit, then the copy I gave you will continue to work. But if I one day close my business, your license will then stop working.
Just because the other one worked for a long time doesn't mean the license was legitimately obtained.
I am sorry, as Stefan said, you need to dispute this with the seller. And purchase a legitimate license that's meant for consumers to avoid this type of issue in the future.

If third party is going to give you anything cheaper than Microsoft's pricing, it is always up to no good and I can guarantee you that it is always these volume licenses. I am seeing too many of these here in the forum.
If you must get it from third party, stick with places like Best Buy, Costco. Stay away from any mentioning of Professional Plus, LSTC, Standard.
