Good Day:

I am a senior 85 and not very active due to Health and financial reasons.

I would like to close my 365 account but I want to keep Outlook basic(classic).(I assume basic also includes my contacts and current files.

I appreciate the service over the years.

    Hi, @Dennis Seed

Yes, you can cancel your Microsoft 365 subscription while keeping your Microsoft account, Outlook email address, emails, and contacts.

However, Classic Outlook desktop requires a valid Office license to continue full functionality after your subscription expires.

You can still access your emails and contacts for free through Outlook Web https://outlook.live.com/mail

Are your emails and contacts stored in Outlook.com or locally on your computer?

Please don't close your Microsoft account yet, as this could result in losing access to your email and other data.

    Thanks!

    Hello Dennis,

Yes, you can cancel your Microsoft 365 subscription and keep your Outlook.com email account, contacts, and calendar. Just be careful to cancel only the subscription and not your Microsoft account itself.

If you're currently using Classic Outlook that came with Microsoft 365, it may no longer work fully after the subscription ends. However, you can still use Outlook.com on the web or download the free Outlook app for Windows and sign in with your Outlook.com account.
