Using New Outlook on Windows for personal email, calendar, and contact management
On Windows, the quickest way to tell is the top-right corner of the Outlook window:
- New Outlook: shows a Settings gear icon in the top right.
- Classic Outlook: does not show that Settings button, and instead has a File tab.
More signs:
- New Outlook ribbon typically shows Home, View, and Help.
- Classic Outlook includes the File tab, where account info, product version, and Outlook Options are available.
To check the exact version number in New Outlook:
- Select Settings.
- Go to General > About Outlook.
- The version information appears on the right.
If the app shows a Try the new Outlook toggle in the upper-right corner of classic Outlook, that means the current app is classic Outlook, and the toggle is offering the switch to new Outlook.
