Hi @Vincent Yat Swee Kor (CSE),

To better understand the situation, could you please provide a bit more information?

    • How was Project 2016 originally purchased?
      • Through a reseller or third-party vendor?
      • Directly from Microsoft?
    • Is this a Retail license or a Volume Licensing (VLSC) license?
    • In Project > File > Account, do you see a Manage Account button?

    This distinction is important because:

    • Retail licenses are normally linked to the Microsoft account that was used to redeem and activate the product key.
    • Volume Licensing (VLSC) installations typically use MAK/KMS activation and are generally not linked to a personal Microsoft account.

If this is a Volume Licensing (VLSC) version, I would recommend that your Microsoft 365 administrator raise a support ticket through the Microsoft 365 Admin Center so that Microsoft Support can review the licensing details and advise on the available options.

The Global Admin should create a service request with Microsoft support to get advanced technical assistance and diagnostics. For detailed instructions on how to get support, please refer to Get support - Microsoft 365 admin.

If it turns out to be a Retail license that was redeemed under the wrong personal Microsoft account, you could try contacting Microsoft Billing Support and request a one-time manual transfer:

    1. Go to: Contact Microsoft Support
    2. Choose:
      • Personal account
      • Billing & Payments
    3. Sign in with any working Microsoft account.
    4. Request a chat or callback.
    5. Ask them to:
      • Remove the Project license from the old email account.
      • Reassign it to the company account.

Please note that approval is not guaranteed, and Microsoft reviews such requests on a case-by-case basis.

    Could you let us know:

    1. Where the license was purchased (Microsoft, reseller, or another vendor)?
    2. If available, a screenshot of the Account page (with any personal information removed)?

That should help determine whether this is a Retail or Volume Licensing scenario and what options are available.
