Accessing Microsoft Teams using organizational or personal credentials
Since the PC restart and internet check are already done, use this order:
- Sign out of Teams and sign back in
In Teams, select the profile picture at the top right > Sign out. Close Teams, reopen it, and sign in again. - Force-close Teams completely
On Windows, go to the taskbar, right-click the Microsoft Teams icon, and select Quit. Then start Teams again. This forces a refresh and can restore loading. - Clear the Teams cache on Windows
This removes local cached data that can prevent Teams from loading. It does not uninstall Teams, but it does remove local web client cache, thumbnails, local message history, display images, and add-ons.- Right-click the Teams icon in the taskbar and choose Quit.
- Open File Explorer.
- Paste this path into the address bar:
%appdata%\Microsoft\Teams - Delete the contents of that folder.
- Reopen Teams and sign in again.
- Try Teams on the web
Open https://teams.microsoft.com/. If the web app works, the problem is likely limited to the desktop client. - If Teams also does not load in the browser, check browser trust/cookie settings
A known cause is using the browser Trusted Sites feature without adding the required Microsoft Teams URLs. In that case, Teams can fail to load in Edge, Chrome, Firefox, or Safari. Admin rights might be required to change these settings. - If the issue continues, uninstall and reinstall Teams
This is listed as a next step when cache clearing and sign-out do not resolve reconnect/loading issues.
If this is a Teams for Education environment, the institution IT admin may also need to verify Teams permissions, updates, or access policies for the affected account.
