How do I view and close a poll in Microsoft Teams

I ran a poll last week where I asked colleagues to prioritise 9 areas of our business which they need support in. I asked them to complete the poll by EOP Thursday 24 September. I now want to view the poll and close it but am unable to do so. Having watched several YouTube films and MS Teams instructions, I am informed that I should be able to see a 'More' button when viewing the poll but this isn't the case. Essentially, all I am able to do is view the poll to complete it not view the results or close it. Can you please advise.

Hi @Laurence Braithwaite,

Could you also confirm whether this was a poll in a meeting, group chat, or channel? Additionally, could you share a screenshot showing the poll page where the More option is missing?

In the meantime, please try the following:

  • Sign in to https://forms.cloud.microsoft/ using the same work account that created the poll.
  • Locate and open the poll. Polls created in Teams are powered by Microsoft Forms and should also be accessible through the Forms portal.
  • Select View responses to review the response summary, individual responses, or export the results to Excel.

If the poll does not appear in Microsoft Forms, please check whether it was created by another organizer, presenter, or account.

Please let me know where the poll was created, then try the steps above to locate the poll responses. Once you've checked, share the results and I'll suggest the best way to close the poll based on your situation.

Thank you so much for taking the time.

If the poll opens only in response mode and there is no More option, the poll is most likely not being opened as the creator/owner. In Teams, only the person who created the poll can manage it, and only meeting owners and presenters can create, manage, and launch meeting polls.

Use the matching path below based on where the poll was created:

    1. If it was a meeting poll
      • Open the meeting chat or the meeting itself.
      • Open the Polls tab or Polls pane.
      • Find the poll.
      • To see live or collected responses, open the poll from the Polls tab or pane.
      • To close it, select the drop-down next to View results and choose Close poll.
      • From the same menu, Export results or Delete poll are also available.
      • If the poll is still accepting responses, it is marked LIVE. Closed polls are marked CLOSED.
    2. If it was created with the Poll app in a chat or channel
      • Open the poll card in Teams.
      • Select More on the poll card.
      • This opens the Microsoft Forms Responses Overview page, where the creator can view:
        • whether the poll is active or inactive
        • number of responses
        • response counts for each answer
        • participant details if names were recorded
      • To manage the poll, from the results view select Back to questions, then Settings.
    3. If using Teams mobile
      • Open the poll and tap View Result.
      • Tap Menu (…) in the top-right of the result view.
      • Confirm the action to continue.

If the poll was created in a meeting and the management controls are missing, check that the same Teams account is being used that created the poll and that the account is a meeting owner or presenter. If Teams only shows the attendee voting view, that account does not have the poll-management role for that poll.
