I have teams with two different organizations that use the same email address. How can I add the second organization to my teams?

I have a work account that I use for teams messages. I recently got added to a customer's organization under the same email address. When I try to "Add another account" on my teams, it does not work since it is the same email. I can see I am a guest in the second organization when I look at the Organizations tab on the My Account page. How can I add this second organization to my Teams app so I can see messages and be added to meetings by users in the second organization?

Thank you

    Hello

So technically you don't have two organization accounts. You have one account and your home organization. Then this same work account is also a guest user in another organization. This 2nd one is more like a persona, not its own full organization account.

If you have already accepted the invitation to join the other organization, when you click on the user profile icon on the upper right in Teams, you should see something similar to mine in the screenshot:

ets (green arrow) is my home organization. "Microsoft" (red arrow) is the organization I am invited to as a guest user. So, when I need to see messages and channels/teams in the Microsoft organization where I am a guest, I just click on "Microsoft" to switch over. When I am done there, you click on the user profile icon again, and you will see your home organization you can click on to switch back to your home org.

    Hi Larkin,

Thank you for sharing the details of your situation.

Since both organizations are associated with the same email address, you do not need to use Add another account. Instead, select your profile picture in Teams and check whether the customer’s organization appears under your available accounts and organizations. You can then select it to switch to the guest organization.

If the organization is not listed, try signing out of Teams completely and signing back in, or check whether it appears when using Teams on the web.

If it still does not appear, please contact the administrator of the customer’s organization and ask them to confirm that:

    • You have been added to at least one Team, rather than only added as a guest in their directory.
    • Guest access is enabled for their Teams environment.
    • Your guest account is not being restricted by any access or security policies.

Once the setup is complete, you should be able to switch to their organization in Teams and access the messages, teams, channels, and meeting invitations available to your guest account.

I hope this information is helpful. Should you have any further questions or need additional assistance, please feel free to share them in the comment below. I'm very happy to help.
