    Hi @Kathryn Roberts ,

Breakout rooms are available in Microsoft Teams meetings, and the meeting organizer must use the Teams desktop app to create and manage them. Meetings with breakout rooms can support up to 1,000 attendees and up to 50 breakout rooms.

You can follow the steps bellow to create a meeting with breakout rooms:

    • Schedule your meeting in Teams and send the invites.

    • Open the meeting from your Teams calendar.
    • Select Breakout rooms (or Rooms) and choose how many rooms you need.

    • Assign participants either:
      • Automatically to let Teams distribute them, or
      • Manually if you want to choose who goes into each room.

    • Start the meeting and, when you're ready, select Open rooms to send participants to their assigned breakout rooms.
    • You can move participants between rooms, send announcements, and close the rooms at any time during the session.
    • You can also enable this feature during the meeting by selecting the Breakout rooms option from the meeting controls.

A couple of things to keep in mind:

    • The meeting organizer should use the Teams desktop client to configure and manage breakout rooms.
    • Participants should be signed in with a work, school, or other supported Teams account.
    • Microsoft Teams (Free) users can't currently be assigned to breakout rooms.
    • Up to 50 breakout rooms can be created, and breakout rooms are supported for meetings with up to 1,000 attendees.

I hope this information help. If you need any further assistance, please feel free to leave a comment.

For a 10+ person workshop, Teams breakout rooms support this easily. Breakout rooms can be created for meetings with up to 1,000 attendees, and up to 50 breakout rooms can be created.

    Use the Teams desktop app.

    1. Schedule the meeting
      • In Teams, go to Calendar.
      • Create the meeting and send the invites first.
    2. Create breakout rooms before the meeting
      • Open Calendar > select the meeting > View event.
      • Select More options > Breakout rooms.
      • Select Create rooms.
      • Choose how many rooms are needed, then select Add rooms.
      • Select Assign participants.
      • Choose Automatic to split people across rooms, or Manual to place people yourself.
      • Select Next > Save.
    3. Or create breakout rooms during the meeting
      • In the meeting controls, select Rooms.
      • Choose the number of rooms.
      • Choose how participants will be assigned.
      • Select Create rooms.
    4. Assign or adjust participants
      • Select Rooms > Assign participants.
      • Manually assign people to rooms, or use Shuffle to randomize them.
      • Select Save.
    5. Manage room settings
      • Select Rooms > Rooms settings.
      • Set options such as room behavior and time limits.
      • If a time limit is set, rooms close automatically when time expires and participants rejoin the main meeting.
    6. Start the breakout sessions
      • Open the breakout rooms after the meeting starts.

    Important limits and notes:

    • Breakout rooms are available for meetings with up to 1,000 attendees.
    • Up to 50 breakout rooms can be created.
    • If breakout rooms are created, meeting capacity is limited to 1,000 attendees.
    • Breakout rooms can’t be created in meetings that already have more than 1,000 attendees.
    • Breakout rooms aren’t currently supported in town halls.
    • Participants signed into Microsoft Teams (free) accounts can’t be added or assigned to breakout rooms.

If the workshop is a recurring meeting, room assignments can carry forward to future occurrences unless changed manually.
