I had this problem, but this Fix 3 worked for me. Now I can adjust the volume level to any value !

(I have a brandnew Samsung Galaxy Book4 Edge).

If you want to permanently fix the 3.5mm jack, you need to force Windows to reload the audio device controller stack !

OBS: This is what I uninstalled (and only this) = Qualcomm(R) AqsticTM) ACX Audio Device

    1. Unplug your 3.5mm jack and Reboot your laptop.
    2. Then follow Fix 3.

Fix 3: Clean Reinstall the Audio Driver

Right-click the Windows Start Menu button and select Device Manager.

    1. Expand the section for Sound, video, and game controllers. [1]
    2. Look for your Qualcomm or Samsung Audio device. Right-click it and choose Uninstall device.
    3. If a checkbox appears asking to "Delete the driver software for this device," leave it unchecked. You just want to remove the temporary instance.
    4. Click Uninstall and immediately restart your laptop.
    5. Upon reboot, Windows 11 will automatically reinstall the clean audio driver from scratch, which resets the invisible hearing-protection flag.
    6. Plug in your 3.5mmm jack and adjust the volume level above 37 and click "Allow" in the popup message window. This will un-caps the 37% lock.
    7. Enjoy your 3.5mm jack headphones now at any volume level.

    Hi @luke urry

I understand how frustrating this is, especially when selecting Allow does not remove the limit.

Samsung documents this exact “volume stuck at 37” behavior as related to its headphone hearing-protection warning. Please try:

    • Disconnect the headphones.
    • Fully restart the laptop using Start > Power > Restart.
    • After Windows has restarted, reconnect the headphones.
    • Increase the volume and select Allow on the hearing-protection message before disconnecting the headphones again.

Restarting should make the warning appear again and allow the volume to be adjusted above 37.

Because the Galaxy Book4 Edge uses Qualcomm audio, older instructions referring to a Realtek Ear Protection checkbox may not apply. If it remains capped, install all available updates through Windows Update and the Samsung Update app, then restart. It is recommended checking for updates and restarting when troubleshooting audio problems.

If the warning still accepts Allow without unlocking the volume, I recommend contacting Samsung Support, as the restriction is likely controlled by Samsung’s audio driver or utility rather than a standard Windows setting.

I hope it helps, please feel free to let me know if you need any further assistance
