The supported response to a daily-limit message on free Microsoft Copilot is to wait until the limit resets, while noting that Microsoft does not publish a standard allowance of only one response per day.

Free Copilot remains available without a subscription, but access is subject to capacity and usage limits; after reaching one, Microsoft says to return later or upgrade for higher limits.^1^ Limits can vary by feature, entry point, and system conditions, and may change over time.^2^

    What to do

    1. Wait until the next day, as directed by the message, and then start a new ordinary text chat. This tests whether the daily allowance has reset.
    2. If the message originally appeared only in one client, test another entry point:
      • Website blocked: try the Copilot app or another browser.
      • App blocked: try Copilot in a browser.
If one works, continue there temporarily. A Microsoft Q&A troubleshooting response identifies switching clients as a way to distinguish a client-specific restriction from a broader account limit.^3^
    3. If every client shows the same limit, treat it as an account-level or service-side restriction and wait for the reset. Switching browsers will not bypass a genuine account quota.
    4. If the limit remains after the next-day reset:
      • Sign out of Copilot, close the browser or app completely, reopen it, and sign in again.
      • If only the browser remains affected, clear its Copilot site data/cache and retry. These are troubleshooting steps for a possibly stuck local session, not a way to reset a genuine quota.^3^
      • In Copilot, select the profile picture → Send feedback and include the exact message, approximate time, affected client, and that it occurred after one response.^4^
      • Contact Microsoft Support through the public Microsoft Support “Contact us” page and request investigation of the account-level Copilot limit. Community responders cannot inspect backend usage records or manually reset account quotas.^5^

A paid Microsoft 365 plan provides higher limits, but upgrading is optional; free Copilot can still be used after its applicable limit resets.^6^
