Install Microsoft 365 on the new computer by signing in with the Microsoft account linked to your subscription; you do not need to transfer the subscription or remove the old computer first.

Install and activate Microsoft 365

1. On the new PC, open the Microsoft 365 Apps page:
   https://m365.cloud.microsoft/apps
2. Select Sign in and use the same Microsoft account that owns the subscription.
3. Select Install apps → Install.
4. Open the downloaded installer:
   • Microsoft Edge: select Run
   • Chrome: select Setup
   • Firefox: select Save File, then open it
5. If Windows asks whether the installer can make changes, select Yes.
6. Wait for “You’re all set! Office is installed now,” then select Close.
7. Open Word or Excel from the Start menu and accept the license agreement. If prompted, sign in again with the subscription account to activate it. ^1^

Microsoft 365 for home can be installed on all your devices, with Office signed in on up to five devices at the same time. If that limit is exceeded, Microsoft 365 automatically signs out an earlier device; sign back in on any device when you need to use it. Add the computer to your Microsoft account’s device list

This is separate from installing Microsoft 365. A Windows 11 computer is automatically added to the device list when you sign in to Windows with your Microsoft account. Only Surface devices can be registered manually by serial number. ^3^

To check the Windows account:

1. Open Settings.
2. Select Accounts → Your info.
3. If Windows currently uses a local account, choose the option to sign in with a Microsoft account and use the account associated with Microsoft 365.

If the subscription or Install button is missing

Go to the Microsoft account dashboard, open Services & subscriptions, and verify that Microsoft 365 appears as active under the account you used. The installation option is available there for an active subscription. ^4^

If Microsoft 365 appears under a different account, sign out of the Microsoft 365 website and repeat the installation using that account.
