So i have 1 Hotmail and 2 Gmail accounts, the Gmail I'm trying to use which has all my chat history isn't on there for a quick login.

I've been using copilot (legacy) on my phone/web browser for a long time now, i still have everything on my phone but now that i have the desktop app i cant login with my Gmail, since they changed something it also logged me out of the web browser but not my iPhone (legacy) app that they have changed it to now.

With both the accounts, i can use them but have nothing on them. When i login on one of the 2, i try putting a connector using my Gmail account, it says its connected but there's no chat history???

Lastly, when i try login with my main Gmail account my password works, but then it quickly opens up a new window ???(Microsoft login)??? with the verify phone number which i don't have access to anymore so i try putting in my Gmail password and it doesn't work. And i have also tried my other Hotmail and Gmail passwords in, which i know they work and doesn't work.

Sign in with Continue with Google using the exact Gmail identity previously used for Copilot; do not add that Gmail account as a connector, because connectors retrieve Gmail/Drive content and do not transfer Copilot chat history.^1^

Sign in with the correct identity

    1. Keep the iPhone app signed in for now. Do not sign out or remove it while it remains your only access to the old chats.
    2. In the Windows Copilot app, sign out of the empty Hotmail/Gmail-linked accounts.
    3. At the sign-in page, explicitly choose Continue with Google, rather than entering the Gmail address into the Microsoft-account form.
    4. Select the same Gmail account shown in the iPhone Copilot profile.
    5. After signing in, check the account switcher and ensure the correct Personal account is selected.

The desktop Copilot app supports personal sign-in with a Microsoft account, Apple ID, or Google Account, and signing in provides access to chat history.^2^

Because Copilot is being updated, chats can temporarily differ between devices while content moves. Restart Copilot after signing into the correct Google identity, follow any in-app link for previous chats, and check again later if the app says chats are “coming soon.”^1^

If Microsoft verification still requests the old phone

The second screen is Microsoft security verification for the Microsoft account associated with the updated Copilot identity. It is not asking for your Gmail, Hotmail, or Microsoft password, so those passwords will not work in that field.

    1. On Verify your identity, select Show more verification methods if displayed.
    2. Use an accessible recovery email, Authenticator app, or other listed method.
    3. If none are accessible, select I don’t have any of these.
    4. Follow the prompts to replace the security information. Replacing all inaccessible security information can restrict the account for 30 days; support cannot bypass verification or manually change account details.^3^
    5. Avoid repeatedly requesting codes, because excessive requests can trigger a temporary block. If recovery does not start correctly, use Microsoft’s Sign-in Helper from the account sign-in support page.^4^

If you can authenticate through another method, immediately add a current verification option:

Microsoft account → Security → Manage how I sign in → Add a new way to sign in or verify. Add an accessible recovery email, Authenticator, or passkey, verify it, and only then remove the obsolete phone number.^5^

Why the Gmail connector showed no chats

A Gmail connector lets Copilot retrieve email, calendar, contacts, and other authorized Google content. It does not use the Google account as the active Copilot identity and does not copy that identity’s conversations into the currently signed-in account.^6^

    Therefore:

    • Do not expect old chats under either empty account merely because Gmail says Connected.
    • Do not create new conversations in those accounts if the goal is to preserve one continuous history.
    • The required account is the one reached through the original Continue with Google sign-in.

If the account has not moved yet

Open a private browser window, visit copilot.microsoft.com, and sign in with the affected personal account. If redirected to the updated experience, migration has started or completed; if the legacy site remains available, continue accessing that account there until it moves.^1^

If the correct Google sign-in succeeds but the chats remain absent after migration time, report it from Copilot using … → Send feedback → Report a problem, including the device, operating system, when it began, and a screenshot. Do not include passwords or verification codes.
