Sending, receiving, and organizing email in Outlook.com
For Outlook.com and Outlook on the web, focus on account access and sync checks first:
- Check whether the account is blocked or needs reauthentication.
- If the password was changed recently, update it.
- If unusual sign-in activity was detected, the account may be temporarily blocked and must be unblocked.
- If sign-in itself is failing, use the Microsoft account sign-in helper.
- Confirm mail is not being redirected by web settings.
- In Outlook on the web, go to Settings > Mail > Rules and remove any rule that moves or deletes incoming mail.
- Check Mail > Forwarding and make sure forwarding is not sending messages elsewhere.
- Check Junk Email, Focused, and Other views to make sure messages are not being filtered out.
- Reset the sending identity settings in Outlook on the web.
- Go to Settings > Mail > Sync email and verify the sending address under From is correct.
- Then go to Settings > Mail > Compose and reply and reset the default From address.
- Sign out, clear the browser cache or try another browser, then sign back in.
- Verify the issue is not app-specific.
- If mail appears in Outlook.com on the web but not in the Outlook app, the problem is with the app sync rather than the mailbox.
- If the issue continues in classic Outlook on Windows, use the built-in repair path.
- Go to File > Account Settings > Account Settings > Email.
- Select the account, then choose Repair if available.
- If needed, use the Classic Outlook troubleshooters.
- If none of the above resolves it, contact support.
