No OneDrive icon in the menu bar. I have two OneDrive folders and want to get rid of the old one that is not syncing with my online account.

    Hello Hunters,

Before removing the older folder, please check whether it contains any files that are not in OneDrive online. If it does, keep that folder for now.

Could you also open OneDrive from Applications and let us know whether the cloud icon returns to the menu bar or whether you see an error? That will help us identify the active sync folder before changing anything.

    1. Restore the OneDrive app first so the menu bar icon returns:
      • Open Applications.
      • Find OneDrive.
      • Right-click it and select Show Package Contents.
      • Open Contents > Resources.
      • Double-click ResetOneDriveApp.command or ResetOneDriveAppStandalone.command.
      • Start OneDrive again and complete setup.
    2. If OneDrive starts but the account link is broken, re-link it:
      • Click the OneDrive cloud icon in the menu bar.
      • Go to Help & Settings > Preferences > Account.
      • Select Unlink this Mac.
      • Sign in again.
      • When prompted that a folder already exists, select Use this folder for the current folder that matches the online OneDrive.
    3. If sign-in still does not complete correctly, clear cached credentials:
      • Open Keychain Access.
      • Search for OneDrive.
      • Delete OneDrive Cached Credential.
      • If needed, use Window > Keychain Access, then File > Delete Keychain [OneDrive/Office/MS], and click Delete References.
      • Start OneDrive and sign in again.
    4. To identify and remove the old non-syncing folder:
      • In OneDrive, if the message says "You’re signed in to 2 versions", click Show in Finder.
      • In /Library/CloudStorage, open each OneDrive folder.
      • If one folder shows a Finder banner with a Delete button, click Delete. That folder is from the previous OneDrive version and is no longer active.
    5. If there is no Delete banner:
      • Open OneDrive preferences > Account.
      • Select Unlink this Mac.
      • Run OneDrive again to complete setup.
    6. Before deleting any duplicate folder manually, confirm the active folder is the one that:
      • is syncing with OneDrive online, and
      • contains the files expected in the current account.

Unlinking and re-linking does not delete data. It only disconnects the Mac from OneDrive temporarily while setup is repaired.
