The recurring Microsoft Family Safety pop-up appears because Family Safety restrictions are still applied to the Windows account or device. To stop it from reappearing, refresh or remove those settings on the PC and verify the family group status of the account.
First, refresh Family Safety settings on the affected Windows device:
- Press and hold the Windows key, then press R to open the Run dialog.
- Type
cmdand select OK to open Command Prompt. - In the Command Prompt window, enter the following command exactly and press Enter:
schtasks /run /tn "Microsoft\Windows\Shell\FamilySafetyRefreshTask" - When the command finishes, restart the computer.
This safety reset clears stale Family Safety enforcement on that device. Repeat these steps on each device where the pop-up appears.
Next, confirm whether the account is in a Microsoft family group and what role it has:
- Visit https://account.microsoft.com/family and sign in with the same Microsoft account used on the PC.
- If no family members are shown, the account is not currently in a family group; in that case, the device-level reset above is what removes the leftover settings.
- If a family is listed and the account appears there:
- If shown as an adult/organizer, the same reset command above is still the method to clear enforced settings on the device.
- If shown as a child, an organizer must either adjust or remove the child account from the family group if Family Safety is no longer desired.
After the FamilySafetyRefreshTask has been run and the PC restarted (and, if needed, the family group membership corrected), the Family Safety sign-in pop-up should stop appearing at every logon.
