There used to be a SELECT option that would allow me to select multiple emails and perform an action on the entire group. That option seems to have disappeared.

Any info?

The option is still available if you mean Outlook.com, but how it looks will depend on how big your reading pane is. If it is too big, it will look like this:
    User's image

If not, it will look like this:

Click the Select icon—the small box at the far right of the current folder’s name above the message list—to restore the checkboxes for selecting multiple emails in Outlook.com. ^1^

    Then:

    1. Select the checkboxes beside the messages you want.
    2. Use the toolbar to delete, archive, move, flag, or mark the selected group.
    3. To select everything currently shown, open Select and check the box beside Inbox. ^2^

    Keyboard alternative

If the Select control is unavailable:

    • Select the first message, then use Shift+Down Arrow or Shift+Up Arrow to extend the selection through adjacent messages. These shortcuts are supported in Outlook on the web and new Outlook. ^3^
    • Ctrl+A may select all messages in the current message list. ^2^

If neither the icon nor keyboard selection works, submit a report through Help → Feedback in Outlook.com, because that can indicate a current interface issue rather than the removal of multi-select.
