I have a Microsoft 365 Family subscription.

My storage page shows 732 GB used out of 1.2 TB.

My Outlook mailbox shows 28.8 GB used out of 100 GB.

However, Outlook reports that I am over my storage limit by 1331% and regularly blocks email.

OneDrive also reports insufficient storage and cannot sync files.

The storage figures are contradictory and appear to indicate a quota or account error.

Please investigate and recalculate the storage allocation on my account.

    Hello,

Please check whether your Microsoft Office 365 Family subscription is active in your Microsoft account.

    https://account.microsoft.com/services

If you are not the family organizer, ask the organizer to check for any payment or billing issues with the Microsoft 365 Family subscription.

If the subscription is active but you still receive a storage-full error, ask the organizer to remove your account from the Microsoft 365 Family group and then resend the invitation for you to rejoin.

This may help the subscription benefits sync correctly across your Microsoft services and ensure that your storage is correctly reflected.

If you're the Organizer and you get the storage error,

go to the Services & Subscriptions page, select the Office 365 family subscription, and then turn off the recurring billing. Turn on recurring billing after some time. See if this resyncs your storage.

If you are still having issues, let me know.

The reported behavior matches a storage mismatch or delayed quota update rather than the usage numbers shown on the storage pages.

    Supported facts:

    • Microsoft storage includes OneDrive files and photos, Outlook.com pictures and attachments, and other files stored with a personal Microsoft account.
    • If Microsoft storage is exceeded, Outlook.com can stop sending and receiving mail, and OneDrive can become read-only or stop syncing.
    • Consumer Outlook.com mailbox storage is capped at 100 GB.
    • After buying additional OneDrive storage, the new quota can take up to 24 hours to appear, and if it has not updated after 48 hours, support should be contacted.

    Actionable checks:

    1. Sign in to the Microsoft account storage dashboard and review the breakdown for Microsoft storage usage and quota.
    2. In Outlook.com, check mailbox usage at Settings > Account > Storage and confirm the mailbox still shows about 28.8 GB of 100 GB.
    3. If OneDrive is signed in on a device, verify it is using the same Microsoft account as the active Microsoft 365 Family subscription. A mismatched account can cause 5 GB/free-limit behavior.
    4. If the correct account is already in use, sign out of OneDrive and sign back in with the subscription account to force a quota refresh.
    5. If the subscription was recently changed or storage was recently added, allow up to 24 hours for quota changes to appear.
    6. If the quota still has not corrected after 48 hours, use the Microsoft support contact option provided on the storage quotas page.

    Important clarifications:

    • The 1.2 TB shown is OneDrive/cloud storage, not Outlook mailbox storage. Outlook.com mailbox storage remains limited to 100 GB for consumer accounts.
    • A “Microsoft Unified Storage is full” condition can block Outlook.com mail even when the mailbox itself is below 100 GB, because the block can be caused by overall Microsoft cloud storage usage.
    • If a Microsoft 365 subscription expires or is canceled, storage can revert to the free allowance and cause mail and sync issues if usage remains above the reduced quota.
