Open a private browser session at copilot.microsoft.com, choose Continue with Google, and authenticate with the original Gmail identity to determine whether its Copilot history is still in the pre-migration experience.
Check the migration state
- Open an InPrivate/Incognito window so an existing Microsoft-account session cannot select the wrong identity automatically.
- Go to copilot.microsoft.com.
- Select Continue with Google—do not merely type the Gmail address into the Microsoft-account sign-in form.
- Sign in with the Google account previously used in the phone app.
- Check what happens:
- The browser remains at
copilot.microsoft.com: That identity has not moved yet. Continue using the old experience there and check its conversation list while awaiting migration.
- It redirects to
copilot.com: The account has moved or is completing its move. Open the left sidebar and check for an in-app link to existing chats or a “coming soon” message.
Microsoft states that linked Google and Microsoft personal-account history, preferences, and eligible content are brought together automatically through the Microsoft account; no manual merge action is normally required. Migration can take time and devices can temporarily show different histories.^1^
If the old history appears at the legacy site or on the phone, preserve any critical conversations outside Copilot while the issue is investigated. Do not clear Copilot activity history: clearing it deletes the history and may make those conversations unavailable to you.
If the account has redirected but history remains missing
Refresh the web page, restart the mobile app, and follow any migration message displayed in Copilot. Then allow time for the move to complete. These are the documented actions when content is still moving.^1^
If it continues:
- In Copilot, select … in the upper-right corner.
- Select Send feedback → Report a problem.
- Include:
- That the original sign-in was Continue with Google.
- That the destination is a personal Microsoft account using the same Gmail address.
- Whether
copilot.microsoft.com remained open or redirected to copilot.com.
- The approximate date the history disappeared.
- Phone model/OS, browser, and Copilot app version.
- Screenshots of both history views, with personal content removed.
This sends the report with the session and device details needed to investigate an account-specific migration problem.^2^
Escalate to consumer support
A Microsoft Q&A thread cannot access account records, manually merge identities, or restore conversations. For an account-specific investigation:
- Open Get Help on Windows, or use Microsoft’s consumer support page.
- Describe the issue as:
“Copilot personal-account migration: Google sign-in history missing after redirect to Microsoft personal account with the same Gmail address.”
- Select Contact Support, choose the affected product/service, and then select an available chat or callback option.^3^
Ask support to investigate the migration state and whether the history is still associated with the Google-sign-in profile. Published guidance does not provide a user-operated manual synchronization or guarantee that support can restore or manually merge history; the supported process is automatic migration followed by feedback and account-specific support investigation.
