A family of Microsoft spreadsheet software with tools for analyzing, charting, and communicating data.
Use the standard Office for Mac installer. The installer package is the same for Microsoft 365 and Office 2024 for Mac. What determines whether it becomes Microsoft 365 or Office 2024 is the license and activation, not the installer name.
Steps:
- If Office is already installed, remove the existing Office apps first to avoid conflicts:
- Close Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- In Finder > Applications, move the Office apps to Trash.
- Download the Office installer package for Mac:
- Run the installer package and complete installation.
- Activate with the Office 2024 license associated with the Microsoft account used for that purchase.
Important details:
- The same installer package can be used for Microsoft 365 subscriptions and Office LTSC for Mac 2024/2021.
- A Mac cannot have two different versions of Office installed side by side.
- If an older Office license is causing the apps to ask for Microsoft 365, remove the old license with the License Removal Tool, then open an Office app and sign in with the account associated with the new Office.
- If Office 2024 has already been redeemed, install it from the Microsoft account where the license is attached.
