I am receiving cancellation notices for a scheduled meeting that the organizer has not cancelled.

I meeting was set in Outlook version 2108 and sent to a group of 20+ invitees. After a time, cancellation notices began appearing, but the organizer did not cancel the meeting. Since then, the organizer has cancelled the meeting, but the messages continue to come through.

    Dear @David Wollin,

    I hope you’re having a good day

Based on your description, this does not appear to be a typical meeting cancellation. Since cancellation notices started appearing before the organizer cancelled the meeting, and continue afterward, I would suspect a calendar synchronization issue or a corrupted meeting item rather than an intentional cancellation.

To help narrow down the cause, could you provide a bit more information?

    • Was this a recurring meeting or a one-time meeting?
    • Are all attendees receiving the cancellation notices, or only a subset of them?
    • Does the organizer have any delegates or shared calendar permissions?
    • Are the cancellation notices still arriving even though the meeting has already been removed from the organizer's calendar?
    • Is the mailbox hosted in Exchange Online (Microsoft 365) or an on-premises Exchange environment?

As an initial check, I would also recommend asking the organizer to verify whether the meeting still exists in any Outlook client (desktop, web, or mobile). In some cases, a stale or corrupted meeting item on one client can continue generating meeting-related messages.

If the cancellations continue, this may be a good candidate for a Microsoft support case, as investigating recurring meeting-cancellation messages often requires access to mailbox and calendar-processing logs that are not available through the community forum.

You can raise support ticket from Microsoft 365 Admin Center>Support>Help & Support.

I hope this helps point the investigation in the right direction. Please let me know what you find.

Looking forward to hearing back from you with any updates or additional details.

    Warm regards,
