No. A Product ID is not the same as a product key and cannot be used to activate Windows 10 Pro.
To activate Windows 10, Windows needs either:
- a digital license, or
- a 25-character product key
A product key looks like this:
XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX
Whether a key is needed depends on how Windows 10 Pro was obtained:
- If Windows 10 Pro was purchased through the Microsoft Store app, activation is typically done with a digital license linked to the Microsoft account.
- If Windows 10 Pro came with the PC, was bought in a box, or was bought from an authorized retailer, activation typically uses a product key.
- If this is the first time Windows 10 has been installed on that PC, a valid product key or a purchased digital license is required.
To check or enter activation details in Windows 10:
- Select Start.
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Activation.
- If a valid key is available, select Change product key to enter it.
- If no license exists, select Go to Store to buy a digital license.
