If these are two separate Microsoft 365/Exchange subscriptions, canceling one subscription does not affect the licenses, products, or services in the other subscription. Microsoft states that if there are multiple subscriptions for the same product or service, canceling one doesn’t affect the others.

To cancel a business Microsoft 365/Exchange subscription in the Microsoft 365 admin center:

    1. Go to the Microsoft 365 admin center.
    2. If using Simplified view, select Subscriptions.
    3. If using Dashboard view, go to Billing > Your products.
    4. Select the subscription to cancel.
    5. Then follow the path based on billing type:
      • MCA billing account: In Billing settings under Subscription status, select Cancel subscription.
      • MOSA billing account: In Subscription and payment settings, select Cancel subscription.
    6. Complete the cancellation prompts.

    Important checks before canceling:

    • The account must have the right role:
      • MCA: Billing account owner/contributor or Billing profile owner/contributor.
      • MOSA: At least Billing Administrator.
    • If a custom domain was added, it must be removed before canceling.
    • If outside the cancellation window, immediate cancellation might not be available. In that case, turn off recurring billing so the subscription expires at the end of the term.
    • If there are multiple active subscriptions, repeat the steps for each one that should be canceled.

If the cancel option is missing, check these common causes:

    1. The subscription was bought from a third-party retailer or app store. In that case, cancellation must be handled with that seller.
    2. The wrong account is signed in.
    3. If the page shows Turn on recurring billing, recurring billing is already off and no further cancellation action is needed.
    4. There is an overdue balance that must be paid first.

Data warning: when cancellation becomes effective, users lose access to their data. If the subscription includes OneDrive for Business or SharePoint Online data, save that data first. Also, explicitly deleting a subscription is more destructive because it skips the Expired and Disabled states and SharePoint Online and OneDrive content is deleted immediately.
