Wondering if they are going to fix the hotmail checkbox issue or if I need to switch to a different account and close out hotmail.

I'm also wondering if the check box will be brought back. I've always done my shopping and used hotmail for all correspondence. I'm going to wait and see if it's brought back before changing the email on everything to a different one since it would be so time consuming. I just refuse to have to click extra times to get rid of something. I'm going to wait 30 days then leave hotmail behind if it's not corrected. I feel strongly about this. Change is not always good when it is more time consuming.

Does anyone else feel the same and are you going to switch if they leave it as is?

There is no information here indicating that Microsoft plans to restore the checkbox behavior permanently or on a specific timeline.

A currently documented workaround is to click the Select icon, shown as a box, at the right side of the folder name in the message list pane. That brings back the checkboxes for selecting messages.

If the concern is whether waiting 30 days will result in an announced fix, no such commitment is shown here.

Select View, then on the left side you will see view settings , click on that and then select mail option, then go to how do you want your messages to appear in the message list, Select checkboxes.

New Setting: File > Settings > Mail > Message list > Layout > How do you want messages to appear in the message list:

    • Sender images
    • Checkboxes
    • Name only

And if you had previously turned off "Show sender images", it defaults to "Name only" which doesn't have checkboxes.

I see the Select checkbox when I log into https://outlook.live.com/ and press the Select icon above the messages in the Message View pane. Here's an image:
