How to get excel to wrap a wide spread sheet to print on one page.

I have a very wide spread sheet but very few rows. Currently it prints on two separate pages. I can do a print to fit but then the text is unreadable.

In the past, Excel was able to scale this and wrap the second page of the spreadsheet and print below the first page all on the same printed page. Combination of 2 pages on 1 printed page.

I think when Excel upgraded to the new scaling options in print set up, we lost this feature. The reason I like this is because then the print doesn't get so small.

If any of you have figured this out, please let me know.

It it is indeed gone, how can we get it back?

    Hi SheilaS,

Regarding your concern, the feature you described has not been removed. Based on what you shared, the issue is likely caused by the printer driver instead of Excel’s scaling settings.

Please try the following steps to see if they help resolve the issue:

    • In Excel, go to Page Layout > Page Setup > click the small dialog box launcher in the bottom-right corner > Page tab
    • Ensure you don't set the worksheet to "1 page wide by 1 page tall", since that will shrink everything
    • Go to the Sheet tab, set Page order to "Over, then down"
    • Next, select File > Print, choose the physical printer, and open Printer Properties or Printing Preferences.
    • Check if you selected an option named: Pages per sheet, Multiple pages per sheet, 2-up, or N-up printing
    • Set it to "2 pages per sheet" and choose a vertical layout so that the second page appears below the first, if available

Hope this information helps. Should you have any other questions, please feel free to share them in the comments of this post. I'm happy to help.

Excel does not support wrapping the overflow from a single wide printed page section underneath on the same physical sheet as a built-in print layout option. The supported options in Page Setup are scaling the worksheet to a specified number of pages, fitting to one page wide, or adjusting by percentage.

For a wide sheet with only a few rows, the closest supported setup is:

    1. Go to Page Layout > Page Setup launcher.
    2. On the Page tab, under Scaling, select Fit to.
    3. Set 1 page wide.
    4. Leave Tall blank, or set it so height is not constrained.
    5. Print and review in Print Preview.

That forces all columns to fit across one page width while allowing the rows to use as much height as needed. Since there are very few rows, this is usually the best way to keep text more readable.

If the text is still too small, use these supported adjustments before printing:

    • Change Orientation to Landscape: Page Layout > Page Setup > Orientation > Landscape.
    • Use a larger Paper size: Page Layout > Page Setup > Size.
    • Set a Print Area so only the needed columns and rows print.
    • Try Adjust to and choose a percentage manually instead of forcing everything to one page.
    • Check File > Print > Settings and remove scaling with No Scaling if a previous scaling option is making the preview too small.

    Important behavior:

    • Excel ignores manual page breaks when Fit to is used.
    • Excel does not stretch data to fill pages.

If the goal is specifically “2 logical pages on 1 physical printed page,” that is not described as an Excel worksheet scaling feature in the provided documentation. That layout is typically handled by printer settings rather than Excel scaling.
