Microsoft 365 features that help users manage their subscriptions, account settings, and billing information.
To check subscription payments and cancel a Microsoft 365 or other Microsoft subscription:
- Go to Subscriptions and sign in with the Microsoft account that was used to buy the subscription.
- Find the subscription.
- If Manage, Cancel, or Change payment appears, the subscription is billed by Microsoft.
- If those options are missing or limited, the subscription may be managed by a third party such as Apple App Store, Google Play, Amazon, or another retailer.
- Select Manage.
- To cancel, select Cancel or Upgrade or Cancel, then follow the prompts.
- If Turn on recurring billing appears instead, the subscription is already set to expire on the date shown and no further automatic charges should occur.
For payment details:
- On the subscription page, Microsoft-billed subscriptions let payment methods be updated with Manage > Change how you pay.
- If there is a past-due balance, Pay now appears and the overdue amount must be paid before cancellation.
- If a charge appeared after cancellation, one documented reason is canceling too close to the billing date. Cancellation must be more than 2 days before the billing date.
- If a charge is not recognized, it can be investigated from the Manage your payments page of the Microsoft account dashboard.
If the subscription was bought through a third party, billing and cancellation must be handled with that provider directly. Microsoft cannot cancel, refund, or modify billing for those subscriptions.
