Since reinstalling did not stop the sign-in loop, clear Outlook’s remaining Android sign-in data and browser authentication cookies before adding the account again.
Reset the Android sign-in state
Clearing app data removes Outlook’s local settings and downloaded content from the phone, but it does not delete mail stored in the mailbox.
- Open Android Settings → Apps → Outlook.
- Select Storage or Storage & cache.
- Tap Clear cache, then Clear data/Clear storage.
- Open Chrome → Settings → Privacy and security → Delete browsing data.
- Select Cookies and site data and Cached images and files, then delete them.
- Restart the phone.
- Open Google Play Store and install any available updates for:
- Microsoft Outlook
- Google Chrome
- Android System WebView
- Google Play services
- Open Outlook, select Add account, and enter the complete email address.
This reset sequence is documented in a closely matching Android case where reinstalling Outlook did not restore sign-in.^1^ Microsoft also recommends clearing Outlook’s cache and updating the app for Android problems.^2^
Test the account separately
Before trying Outlook repeatedly, sign in through the phone’s browser at Outlook.com or the Microsoft account website.
- Browser sign-in works: the password and account are valid; retry Outlook after completing the reset above.
- Browser sign-in also fails: use the recovery route corresponding to the account type below.
- Two-step verification appears: approve it in Microsoft Authenticator, by SMS, or with the configured verification method.
Choose the correct account recovery path
Microsoft’s sign-in guidance differs by mailbox provider:^3^
- Personal Microsoft account (
@outlook.com, @hotmail.com, or @live.com): run Microsoft’s sign-in helper from the cited support page. It checks for account and credential problems.
- Microsoft 365 work or school account: use your organization’s self-service password reset if enabled. Otherwise, contact the Microsoft 365 administrator, because organizational authentication or access policies may require administrator action.
- Gmail, Yahoo, iCloud, or another provider: verify the account with that provider because Microsoft does not manage its password or security settings.
If the loop continues after browser sign-in succeeds and the Android sign-in state has been cleared, open Outlook and go to profile picture → Settings → Help & Feedback → Contact Support. If Outlook does not remain open long enough to reach that menu, use the Microsoft support options on the Outlook mobile sign-in page.^3^
