I have a Microsoft 365 account but Outlook no longer works on my Samsung Galaxy tablet

I had linked my Samsung Galaxy tablet to my account and have used it successfully for some years. I uninstalled it yesterday with the intention of reinstalling it. I have spent hours trying to recover Outlook on my tablet and followed countless recommended ways with no success. I regret my decision to try reinstalling when it was working OK.I have found it impossible to speak to a human being in Microsoft for advice.

Hi Malcolm Ramage,

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A forum.

Based on your description, it seems the Outlook reinstall incident has caused a sign‑in disruption on your Samsung tablet. Please follow the quick steps below to restore Outlook smoothly.

1. Update your device

  • Go to Settings > Software update and install any available updates.
  • Open Google Play Store and update:
    • Android System WebView, Google Chrome, Google Play services.
  • Ensure your internet connection is stable (try both Wi‑Fi and mobile data).
  • Set your time to automatic: Settings > General management > Date and time > Automatic.

2. Clear old sign‑in data

  • Go to Settings > Accounts and backup > Manage accounts and remove any entries labeled Microsoft Exchange or Work or School if they appear.
    • (No need to sign out of all Microsoft or Samsung accounts.)
  • In Chrome (or Samsung Internet):
    • Settings > Privacy > Clear browsing data > clear Cookies and Cache.
  • Go to Settings > Apps > Outlook > Storage > tap Clear cache and Clear data, then uninstall Outlook.
  • Restart your tablet.

3. Reinstall Outlook

  • Install Microsoft Outlook from the Google Play Store.
  • Open Outlook > Add account > choose Outlook.com (for personal Microsoft accounts) and sign in.
  • If prompted for two‑step verification, open the Microsoft Authenticator app to approve the request.

4. Quick check

  • Please test your account at https://outlook.com to confirm the account itself is working normally.
