A Microsoft file hosting and synchronization service.
For a personal OneDrive account, the most likely causes are that the folder was moved, deleted, the wrong Microsoft account is signed in, or the files are only on the local device and not in OneDrive.
Try this in order:
- Sign in to the OneDrive website and use Search everything at the top.
- Search for the folder name and also broad terms such as photo dates, places, or file types.
- If someone deleted a shared folder, it will no longer be available.
- Check the Recycle bin on the left side of the OneDrive website.
- If the folder is there, select it and choose Restore.
- Also check the PC Recycle Bin in Windows.
- Confirm the correct Microsoft account is being used.
- If multiple Microsoft accounts have been used on the PC, the folder may be in a different OneDrive.
- Sign out and sign in again with the other account if needed.
- Search the local device.
- Use File Explorer to search for the folder and photo files on the computer.
- Check whether the files were saved outside OneDrive.
- If many files changed recently, use Restore your OneDrive.
- On the top right of the OneDrive website, select Settings > Options > Restore your OneDrive.
- This can undo file and folder actions from the last 30 days.
- If the files still are not found, keep trying alternate filename spellings, descriptions, and locations.
- For personal accounts, support agents cannot access files and cannot provide recovery beyond the published guidance.
If the folder is not found in search, the OneDrive Recycle bin, or on the local device, recovery is usually not possible from personal OneDrive using self-service steps.
