Sending, receiving, and organizing email in Outlook.com
In Outlook on the web/Outlook.com, junk email is kept for 30 days and then automatically and permanently deleted. Items removed from Junk Email normally go to Deleted Items and remain recoverable there for 30 days. After that, they are only recoverable (if at all) from the Recoverable Items folder.
To check all possible locations:
- Check Deleted Items
- In the left pane, select Deleted Items.
- Look for the message; if found, move it back to Inbox or another folder using Move.
- Check Recoverable Items
- In the left pane, select Deleted Items.
- At the top of the message list, select Recover items deleted from this folder.
- In the Recoverable Items list, select the message and choose Restore.
- Restored messages go back to their original folder when possible (otherwise to Inbox).
If the message is not in Deleted Items or Recoverable Items, it has likely been permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.
